Are Americans so self-centered that they would refuse to watch a show simply because the setting was Canada? It is my contention that a) it's impossible to summarize the TV preferences of 300 million + people, but if it were b) the success of shows like "Anne of Green Gables" (who can resist Gilbert Blythe?) says that's a dirty dirty lie and that we're not stuck-up at all; it's all you rotten foreigners that are.
So what's the consensus from anyone else out there? And remember, this is for posterity so please; do try to be honest.
Don't let Gilbert influence your answer - *wink*!

Who would argue that you wouldn't watch a movie or read a book set in Canada? That is really strange. I love "Anne of Green Gables" not to mention I'm a huge fan of Margaret Atwood and part of my thesis was a Willa Cather novel set in Quebec. Weird.
Canadians, that's who. Apparently I'm not able to rationally oppose them since I'm not also Canadian.
Americans? Snobby? I can't get enough of that Al Jazeera network. Or was it Telemundo? In any case, at 3:00 a.m. EST, it's prime time somewhere else.
ahhhh gilbert. the guy against whom every other male has been measured (and found severely lacking!) also, laurie (the christian bale one).
i actually prefer books set in other countries, i guess i'm weird like that. but to be fair, my uncle let me know the other day that i'm not american. so maybe i don't count?
When President Obama recently visited with the Canadian government asking for their ongoing support in Afghanistan, I assumed this meant either the Mounties would descend on Osama, or Canada would host some "support the troop" keggers. Canada, land of socialized medicine and hockey, and Strange Brew, what's not to love, eh?
Susan, where have you gone, my bloggy friend?
