This isn't exactly a book quote or anything, but I read it on a website and it made me laugh so I figured I'd share it since, once again, I am reading nothing worth quoting.

Cartoon Vocabulary Lesson of the Day: that random string of non-alphanumeric characters that represents a swearword in cartoons is called a grawlix.
I used one just the other day in the parking lot of the movie theater. One of my bro's was being a #%*@!!! and I snapped. The capper on the day was when my son called my husband to tattle about how mom was swearing at his uncle at the movies. Kids...a constant source of embarassment. I of course never embarass myself by doing something like screaming obsenities at family members.
